Boxed me into what I wonder?
I'd guess "a corner", but I might be off by a Nordzee. I've been elsewhere lately, so I haven't caught the background for your augment of nick.
I love music. Sadly, I'm an audiophile too.

Well I always had the impression on GMG, that my position was one of a certain isolation in musical terms, hence the Corner addendum. ;D

I am so pleased with this new acquisition. To me this composer that lived from 1656-1705, was totally unknown to me, yet this figure played a important part in the musical world at large. He was highly esteemed by his compeers, and united several musical influences together in a most successful way. He is largely forgotten and ignored by musicologists and music lovers alike. This cd brought a huge change in that situation, for he is indeed a excellent composer that we have to reckon with. These sonatas for Violin and BC are of a high quality, that can hold its own with any composer of his time, and even top that easily. And on top of it all this is a reference recording to boot. The performance forces you into the fact that the musicians are also on the very top of the ladder.
And best of all budget priced it is.

There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

I understood it to be a meeting of ways, and not a place of scholastic punishment  ;)

Well, the Sibelius Symphony sets below have arrived - Berglund w/ the Helsinki SO - I wanted another 'different' performance vs. the Blomstedt recordings that I own already - just getting started, but in my basement workshop, so just a mediocre sound system - will need repeat listening in the den (and some comparison w/ the San Fran group) -  :D

Good day, Harry - the title says 'Spanish songs in America' - assume these were composers flourishing in Mexico during the Spanish Empire; what are the songs like, i.e. European, American, a mixture?

For me to 'finish off' the morning across the pond:

Dohnanyi, Erno von (1877-1960) - Violin Concertos w/ Michael Ludwig & JoAnn Falletta + Royal Scottish NO - excellent review by Scott Morrison!

Bach, CPE (1714-1788) - Piano Trios w/ Trio 1790 - can't get enough of the Bach Boys Piano Trios on the CPO label w/ this marvelous group - this (and the one of JC Bach) are recommended highly!  :D

What a totally derivative and uninteresting cd. This cd proves once and for all that not all music should be recorded.

If Volodya = Vladimir, then yes, he is Vovka's father.
