Sacred Cantata "Weeping, wailing, fretting, fearing" BWV 12 (23'45)
Gustav Leonhardt (conductor) / Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden (chorus master)
Paul Esswood (alto) / Kurt Equiluz (tenor) / Max van Egmond (bass)
Leonhardt-Consort (ensemble) / Tölzer Knabenchor (choir)

The Chorus in that cantata is stunning -- Herreweghe's fairly recent recording on Harmonia Mundi is very good too.

Kullervo

RVW - Symphony No. 8 (Haitink/London Phil)
Debussy - Sonata for viola, flute and harp (Melos Ensemble)

Gustav Leonhardt (conductor) / Leonhardt-Consort (ensemble)
Marianne Kweksilber (soprano)

This can well turn into approx 200 posts for you, James. I suppose you have the rest of the series?

The new erato

New arrival today. Available at europadisc ar approx half price:

Well into the first disc. Extremely poetic and beatiful, with bursts of Hindemith extremely lucid, energic and clear counterpoint, beautifully sung and very lyrical and expressive. Those of you that think you don't "get" Hindemith owe it to yourself to try this, or Nagano's DVD Cardillac.

Whatever it is, I like it myself. A very profound Cantata.

Oh yes - one of the very best! :)
