After a bit of music that was not written by LvB, I am back with this:

Right now, Sonata No. 7 in D, Op. 10 No. 3.

Opus106

I'd always though that those were boats in a lake. Turns out they were low-flying geese.

This made me laugh!

Are they really geese, though? The wingtips don't look right for geese.

A couple of their cousins, possibly...  :-\

Myaskovsky - Symphony No.10 & 11

These are the first symphonies I've heard by the composer other than the impressive 6th which I have heard a few times previously. I moderately preferred the tone and form of the 10th to the 11th, but it's pointless to even try to make qualitative judgements on a cycle that will probably take years to internalise. So far I quite like what I hear of his style, which while using all the means of late Romanticism none the less avoids total regression in its inclusion of at least a few neo-classical structural elements - a realisation that Romanticism works well on broad canvases, but they need not always be enormous or in self-consciously 'epic' mode. An example of this is the way the 11th ended - not much thunder there, just impishness.
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

Well, they're birds, certainly! :) And they could be geese; the necks look a little long for geese, though, in addition to the wingtips not looking quite right, but the legs look far too short for heron/crane-type birds, which would have been my first guess. But what do I know?!

The new erato

I'm pretty sure they are cranes (or perhaps herons); at least as I know them from Norway.

Look like swans to me--which would be apt.

Now playing: Tapiola, Sakari & the Icelanders

Hmmmm... could be; maybe they are Whooper Swans. Thanks!

More from Kempff this afternoon, the 3rd and 4th LvB piano sonatas. I don't know the 4th very well, and may give it another go before continuing on with the set.

This evening I'm in the mood for something non-Beethovenian, but haven't figured out what quite yet. Perhaps some Alkan, or maybe I'll annoy the kid by putting in a Handel oratorio and singing along. :D

My friend, this is the most daring post you have made in the 2 years and 2 months + that you've been around here...
Actually, I've been here for over 4 years, maybe almost 5...
i have mentioned before that i couldn't get into LVB 9, but that was long ago, somewhere in the depths of some unknown thread.

Also Kempff - Brahms - Piano Sonata 3, Op. 5 - Mono

This is impressive, great authority and sound for it's age. One of the best performances I have heard form this Original Masters set.
