Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den der heimlich lauschet.

I bet that's nice.

As far as Schumann symphonies go, it is.  8)  I'm not a big fan of Schumann (at least not yet).

Now:

Schubert
Symphony 3

C. Kleiber

Tippett is a composer that slowly creeps into my mind, with his fantastic passionate counterpoint, very dynamic and lyrical, always surprising, with unknown depths, which fastness is stunning, and far reaching. Second volume already. This Quartet is giving us top of the bill performances. They bring out all what the composer meant to say, and altogether they are a very accomplished, and clearly communicate the music. The recording is stunning too, so what is keeping you from trying it.
Here are some sound bites.

You could try some alternatives, one HIP, which is the Gardiner recording, or if you want a modern orchestra Zinman. f you have a feel for this music either recording will give you it.

Are you referring to Schumann or Schubert?

Speaking of HIP performances, I'm now listening to:

Beethoven
Symphony No. 4

Frans Brüggen
Orchestra of the XVIIIth Century
(Live: December 2, 2006 - Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Paris)

That must mean you write left handed, Harry? :)

I think this qualifies as a find. Not that often encountered, the music is of a level of excellence that is at times dazzling. The performers seem to be very much at home in this music, and its stunningly recorded. The colour this composer evokes is amazing.

I definitely have to be in the right mood for this piece to resonate with me, but today it does. I still find the sudden switch to the major key at the end totally  unconvincing....but perhaps that's the point of it?

A new arrival. I like Copland in "populist" mode.

Again, actually . . . cannot wait to hear an ensemble of actual cellos attack play it . . . .
