Pretty spectacular live Pathetique by Gergiev/Mariinsky from Paris few days ago, on medici.tv. Don't know for how long these videos stay available over there but this one should be heard/seen.

An incredible, rip roaring Rach 3 by Horowitz, live from 1941 with Barbirolli.
Nothing short of amazing performance.

Absolutely. I plan to write up a review for my Rach 3 thread after I hear it again.

Very good!  No need for any orchestration, it's exciting as is.  (The Concerto was completely wrecked by Klindworth IMHO)

How do you like the set?  I zipped through mine about a year ago way too fast but finding time to get back to a big box is never easy.
I still dont know these works well enough but the performances and sound on this set seem good to me  :).

Now listening:
Beethoven: String Quartet No. 15 In A Minor, Op. 132, "Heiliger Dankgesang"

It was a good decision to buy this set, its in all respects better to my liking as Hogwood, although I will buy that set too, when the price is right, if only for all the extras he puts in.

That's one thing the world needs: more musical astronomers!

Why they are not legion baffles me: music of the spheres etc. :)
