Listening to one of Debussy's masterpieces Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp. This is such a wonderful reading as well. The Nash Ensemble play beautifully.

Wonderful piece! And some friends of mine are playing it in a couple of weeks.

I love Josefowicz.  Sounds as if you would like her recording of Prokofiev's violin concertos.  Where did you hear the performance described above?
Don't know the Chung disc Sarge likes.  This hasn't quite the controlled ferocity I imagine Josefowicz brought to the piece, but I like it, and the other pieces on the disc are pretty darned good, too!

I probably got it in this document of over 1,500 concert links.
Looks like I will get that album you show as Duttileux is in it, and I really like his stuff!

There's an intimacy about this work which I love. I also love the harmonic progressions. The harp's role, in particular, is mesmerizing to me. I'm so jealous you get to see it performed.

DavidRoss,
the Third Symphony's slow movement is my favorite Glass. Sort of like the dark-matter anti-gravity yang-to-yin Pachelbel's Canon, at least for my ears. But that's not even really why I like it so much. It's mesmerizing!

Listening to Danses sacree et profane for chromatic harp and string orchestra. My goodness what great piece of music. I had heard it years ago, but it didn't make much of an impression that time around, but, now, I have a completely new appreciation for it. Anyone else familiar with this work?

Brahms: String Sextets, Piano Concerto No. 1

I just cant get enough of the Sextets at the moment - absolutely gorgeous! 0:).

Francesco Durante.
Concerti 1-8.
CD II Concerti 6-8.
Harpsichord Concerto in B flat major.
Gerald Hambitzer, Harpsichord.
Concerto Koln, Werner Ehrhardt.
Recorded in 1990-92.

Little of Durante's instrumental work is recorded let alone published, he mainly concentrated on religious vocal works, with a total ignorance for opera. That's why this recording has considerable value for me, and maybe to you. For here we have fine interpretations, that give a good inside of Durante's capabilities as a composer for instrumental music. Such a pity he did not write much more. He has a very unconventional and highly individual style, especially in these concerti, the first time they were recorded completely. It is unknown when these concerti were written, they were certainly never printed, although reseachers found about 7 copies, so it might have been widely circulated anyhow.  Try them, it will delight! Good detailed recording.

Not too familiar with the Rach/Tch Piano Trios as yet but the Franck is a lovely work - the performances on these discs are superb :).

Every time I get a CD from CRD in my player engineered by Bob Auger my heart delights, he was a very accomplished music lover, who had golden ears. This is in many ways a remarkable disc with music of a much admired composer, a giant in chamber music, that wrote so many beautiful works, that what I heard so far is overwhelmingly impressive. The performance on this disc is idiomatic well balanced and musically as clear as a bell that rings out in jubilant tones. I must admit that my heart leaps quickly forward when ever I hear the first notes of his music. In that respect do I count myself very lucky having bought the complete Chamber works on Supraphon, vintage recordings, of a ephemeral quality far outrunning everything on the market, but not with this present CD, they are on equal terms.

Ilja Hurnik.
Four Seasons, Chamber Suite, composed in 1952.
Vlach Quartet eo.
Recorded in 1956.

Ondras, Ballet Music, composed in 1951.
Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Karel Ancerl.
Recorded in 1958.

Very glad that I finally get to hear this music. I knew parts of it once heard when in Slovakia, several years ago on the local radio. And it does not disappoint, its colourful music,  well presented by all the different instruments used, and well written too. The ballet music is gorgeous, never heard that before, but it certainly makes my day. The recordings are remastered, and that sounds pretty good considering its age. This is the first CD of a box with four from the Karel Ancerl series. There are also some vocal works in it, which I will leave for what they are, not being a fan of modern vocal propaganda bombast.

Harry

Nicolas Chedeville.
Les Deffis ou L'etude amusante.
Pieces for Hurdy-gurdy and figured Bass, opus 9.

Really beautiful music well performed and recorded, and a lot of fun. Not much of the Hurdy in this recording, but when always applied with taste.

I travel to Anatolia today, and be inspired by classical folk music from that region, just to divert my ways a little from Romania, after listening to tons of music from that country, I did some estimated 150 CD'S from that region.
A almost totally Dutch group who could not play more authentic, its beautiful and well performed and recorded.

My next journey will lead me to Georgia I think.....

Hah! Even in Turkey you're still not that far from Romania...  :D
