I'm just a newbie, so for what it's worth I'm liking it  :)

Cool!

No.1: it wasn't quite as pointless as I was concerned about, so I'll return to these at some point

Symphony: enjoying this more than I usually do, perhaps this is the performance for me. Boult did little for me, I think a work like this really needs ambience in the recorded sound or it just becomes a rather arid affair, thrashing around.

I have a composer friend who is very much into "new complexity" and...this is his favorite recording.

Heidsieck playing K331.  This set gets better every time I listen to a sonata from it.

Listening to Symphony No. 24. One of my favorite Russian symphonies. Miaskovsky's 27th is also incredibly powerful.

I take it OVPP?  I've been listening to Suzuki, but the Mass in B Minor.  At first I thought blah! (the performance not the work) but in repeated listenings I'm completely swept away by the solemn grandeur.  He doesn't really capture any of the moments I like in other performances but as a whole he makes it almost Brucknerian in majesty and scope.

I'll get this set at some point, but man it's just so expensive. What are you thoughts on some of the performances or maybe a better is what are your favorite performances in this set?
