I take it OVPP?

Yep. And masterfully recorded – the SACD (or FLAC, respectively) version is just glorious. I've read some complaints about the quality of individual singers but I have none.

Haydn is my new friend.

I've only liked a few works by Haydn. One of my favorite Haydn works is his Violin Concerto No. 1. I'm only really now starting to appreciate his symphonies, but even these test my patience.

Have you checked out Symphony No. 31 "Hornsignal"? If not listen to this recording from this Harnoncourt set, it might get you moving. :D

In fact, checkout the sample of the first movement either on Amazon or iTunes.

Love this piece GSM.  My favorite Haydn piece in fact.  I have the Emerson String Quartet performance of it.  Now....I must go and listen to it.

Thanks, Greg, but I own the whole set by Dorati and I'm still making my way through it. :)

DUARTE LOBO:     Requiem / Missa Vox clamantis                / The Tallis Scholars

A very beautiful music, between Victoria and the first Italian Baroque. The Missa, in special, is sublime. The interpretation is superlative as usual.

CD I from this wonderful box. 10 CD'S for 18 euro's all topnotch performances and recordings.

Johann Rosenmuller.

Sacri Concerti.
Psalmen, Magnificat, Gloris.

Cantus Colln, KonradJunghanel.
Recorded in 1992.

The sound is wonderful as is the performance. The music by Rosenmuller delights and charms the hell out of you, a fine composer with a lot of heart in the music. Cantus Colln has all the warmth and commitment needed to show it at its best.

First run of this recent purchase. I have been a huge fan of period instrument clarinetist Jean-Claude Veilhan for a long time.

This disc is a great find. Here Veilhan plays together with Eric Lorho all different versions (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) of the chalumeau. This predecessor of the clarinet has a gentler, warmer and charming sound to it. Ab-so-lu-tely gorgeous! :)

Interestingly, though sounding like a clarinet the chalumeau looks more like a recorder.

Starting again with this beautiful first licensed release by Brilliant with the first volume of all of Pasiello's piano concertos. For me it is a highlight this year, and on the basis of the first volume I look forward to it. For the music is gorgeous as are the recordings. On par with Haydn in quality of music this celebrated 18 th century composer was number one at his time, not the least because he composed 94 operas. These piano concerti are so beautiful, that my breath stops for moments when the Larghetto of No. 1 is played, but its by no means the only delight offered to me, in fact its 73 minutes of pure bliss. From my point of view highly recommended.

Concertos 1/3/4/7.  CD I

Original recordings from Arts, recorded in 1989-1992.
