One of my favourite Haydn symphonies, Karl! Just off to listen to it again now, with the excellent Davis recording.

Contains the best fart joke in classical music  ;D  And Szell's is the rudest and funniest execution.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Somehow Poulenc's chamber lovelies are making this rainy day extremely enjoyable.

This listening session would put me to sleep, Daniel! ;) :D But I do remember liking the Schumann Piano Concerto quite a bit. It's been awhile since I've listened to it though.

Yeah, Schumann's PC is pretty good. It's not a work I have listened to much for various reasons, but I should revisit his Violin Concerto again too. I remember liking this work when I first heard it.

Really cannot imagine either the Haydn № 93 (to which I listened again only to-day) or the Beethoven № 5 putting anybody to sleep.

If one is not interested in either composer's harmonic language, then, yes, it can happen. 8)

Karl Henning

Given the type of musical activity in the final movement of the LvB Op.67, I don't see anyone sleeping through it, no matter how one "feels" about the musical language ; )

And the cello concerto is rather beautiful as well. The piano concerto has to be his masterpiece of the concerto form though. Such an excellent, beautiful piece!

Well, myself. I am apt to prefer the Cello Concerto to the Piano Concerto.
