What a splendid image.  It has me reaching for Richard Strauss instead.

Indeed... either that or a rope, ice axe and a pair of crampons..  :D

Lindberg: Feria; Corrente II; Arena (FRSO, Saraste)

I still prefer the Lindberg of KRAFT
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Merry Christmas to all.  Harry, thanks for lightening our festive mornings with your artwork.

John, Happy Birthday.  It is marvelous to be a 46 year old Scot, believe me!

Getting into the mood here with this one.  Just listened to Carols from Kings on Radio 4 - thank heavens for Internet radio

Is there anything that that doesn't make you do that?! Wait, let me guess: the first movement of the 6th? :D ;)

That set is also available in the form of this (currently) less expensive box, which is what Stewart actually has, if I remember correctly.
Precisely! :D

Excellent, thank you for telling me of this. This shall go straight to the top of the Christmas money spending list. :)

Merry Xmas Conor! (I'm assuming you're in Aus/NZ?)

If you like the Borodin and wish to hear more, then you could do far worse than this inexpensive twofer of excellent recordings, which is still many people's benchmark:

If you're interested in a good disk of just his symphs, then LT really punches above his weight in this repertoire:

Indeedie! This is my favourite recording of the piece, it captures some kind of truth to it - a divertimento quality, but with a strange sense of internal measure, not light and fast at least, but fleet both in orchestration and mood. ;_; it's making me want to listen to the rest now ;D

excellent description; so glad you're enjoying it ... do you have Handley's 'Job' per chance? possibly the finest recording made...  8)
