Did you see my note, Bruce? : )

Just did! What a coincidence... It's a fabulous performance, eh!

CPE Bach - Sonatas for Violin & Piano.  Amandine Beyer, violin.  Edna Stern, Piano.

Hello Harry - I've had that Beyer & Stern recording for a while and thoroughly enjoy! :)  I seem to be purchasing more of the Bach Boy's music lately, esp. CPE Bach, as inserted above, a new arrival:

Bach, CPE - Viola da Gamba Sonatas w/ Friederike Heumann on the VdG (7 strings), Gaetano Nasillo on Cello, and Dirk Borner on Hammerflugel (based on a reconstruction of a Cristofori fortepiano from ca. 1730) - the music is a delight, the playing soulful and well integrated, and the sound stage 'in your room' - a recommendation for CPE Bach fans!  Review reprinted HERE, for those interested.  Dave :)

I'm a massive fan of Louis Lortie, and really loved this CD set until I heard this new release:

which raises the bar even higher- how spoilt for choice we are now with these pieces.

Well, I've put the Chamayou CD above on my 'wish list' - just curious at the 3-disc size vs. 2-discs in the Lortie set?  Any comments would be appreciated; BTW - Jed Distler gave the recording a 10/10 rating reprinted HERE - thanks for the recommendation! :)

A very nice live performance!  Could have maybe used a little more fire in the Scherzo and Finale, but well-done overall.
So much great music, so little time...

Cool. If we'd been given two votes, op.20 would have gotten my vote too.

Danzi, Franz - Bassoon Quartets w/ Robert Thompson & members of the Coull SQ - excellent wind composer - just re-activated a rather short Danzi thread from a while back, so if interested please post comments and recording recommendations! :)

Liszt: Piano Sonata In B Minor, S 178

Listening to Brendels version of the B Minor Sonata again and then I will listen to Argerich's version - this is becoming one of my favourite works for Piano :)

I don't know about the 2 discs vs. 3 discs, multi disc sets sit on my IPod in one folder, so I don't notice the disc changes!

I also adore the Ciccolini pèlerinages, have you heard them?

Knocking up fake covers for non-professional releases is fun :) This whole series (Tucson (Arizona) Winter Chamber Music Festival) is just depressing to see the actual thumbnails of in my media player, so I had to fix them :-X

This volume includes RVW's somewhat obscure quintet for piano and strings, rather than the ever-popular phantasy quintet for strings alone.
