You're pretty impressionable Sarge!

Superb singing and first rate music. In the current avalanche of Handel and Vivaldi operas we really need some complete Hasse operas! Please !!!!

Good morning all  :)

Kicking off the day with A Secret Labyrinth that I received yesterday.

Music from 13th Century Spain - Codex Las Huelgas
Paul Van Nevel - Huelgas ensemble

Thanks to Navneeth again for digging up this bargain  8)

You're welcome, Olivier. :)

'A Tre' From the Sonata to the Classical Trio [Disc 22 of the 'Enlightenment' Box], featuring the music of Kuhnau (something about fruits, I guess), Mondonville and Mozart. I'm not quite clear on how the Kuhnau -- essentially works for harpsichord solo -- fits in with the general theme of a trio (sonata) that spans three consecutive discs. :-\

Earlier in the evening, I listened to the previous disc containing music from trios composed all the way from Vivaldi, Telemann and Bach (from BWV 1079) to CPE, JCF and Johann Shobert. I know that the evolution of musical styles was anything but linear, but the general progression was nicely showcased in the disc.

This box, despite my initial misgivings about its being a collection of bits and bobs from the HM catalogue, is a nice relief from my practice of buying 'completist' boxes with the variety in its presentation.
Regards,
Navneeth
