This is outstanidng on all accounts:

Mus1c (think Pelleas & Melisande), voluptuous sound and playing, the tenor could have been better I assume, but what a discovery!

That sounds interesting :)

The new erato

It was best of the month in Gramophone sometime in 2004(while it still had some credibility) an now I understand why!

Interesting!  Bramwell Tovey was our WSO conductor for many years.  So well loved and missed.  He was such a big part of our community.

He is missed, but I'm extremely fond and proud of our current conductor, Alexander Mickelthwate.  Energy, enthusiasm, and colourful, always very animated!  Again, a very proud member of our community.

*Sorry, this is off topic, but when I saw Bramwell's name on that cover, I couldn't help myself!  ;D

WSO not being the Wien Symphonisches Orchester I presume?

Excellent set! A unique Shostakovian experience. Caetani should be commended for putting forth this great set.

I don't know what the special thing is about it, from the first notes on I liked it. The sound is gorgeous. I wish I knew someone with a good surround sound system, must be awe inspiring with this material.

Die Singphoniker, "Singphonic Christmas".
From my collection 2005.  Christmas Cheer.

With Christmas time comes recordings of Christmas music. And why not? There is plenty of appealing music out there for this popular holiday and there are apparently plenty of people willing to check out a old disc of Christmas music. For their entry into the Christmas music sweepstakes, Die Singphoniker -- a six-man a Capella ensemble from Bavaria -- has chosen Christmas songs from all over Europe from Catalonia through Norway with, naturally, many if not quite most of the songs from Germany. How is it? Lovely, just lovely: the Singphoniker turns in a disc of warm-hearted and clear-eyed performances of such European Christmas favorites like Adeste fideles, O sanctissima, Von Himmel Hoch, Stille Nacht, and Kings of Orient. Interspersed throughout the disc are three tenderly played harp solos by the deft-fingered Irmgard Gorzawski, adding a touch of the clear light of heavenly grace to the Singphoniker's sweetly sentimental performances. While listeners waiting for "A Holly Jolly Christmas" or "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" may be disappointed, listeners who simply want to add another charming Christmas disc to their collection will be well satisfied. CPO's sound is clean, clear, and deep.
