Comes across the wire the news that Fred Phelps, of Westboro Baptist infamy,  has gone to meet his Maker.  It's my opinion that God is not only very merciful, but also has a wicked (in the Boston sense of the word) sense of humor.   Which means the individual He provides to Fred to be the Heavenly Welcome Wagon and personal tour guide to Heaven, would be....[choose an option or give your preferred person]

No funeral.  He had been dis-membered by his church.  Will he rest in pieces?

You'll notice I phrased my question in a way that leaves open the possibility that Fred does not get to stay in Heaven.

But I belong to a religious tradition that posits a state of after death purgation, sometimes a very long or intense period in relation to our current state, but not a state of perpetual punishment and separation from the Deity.  In fact,  if one defines Hell in a manner consistent with the usual meaning,  it actually contradicts the idea of God's existence, once you parse out the implications.

So everybody's wrong because they don't have the benefit of your posit. There's no god or no hell, take your pick, or the posit's wrong. I guess we won't know until the facts are sorted out.

heh...h-heh...he said fact

He might go to a cemetery on account of being dead. The choices are precious few at that stage.
