I've hewn pretty close to my original "blueprint." The "plan" was a 12-minute piece,and it's shaping up to 14 minutes as Sibelius flies. Getting close enough to finished that I can taste it. First, some brunch.

There are numerous reasons why MIDI is inadequate here, a busy score, and the many colors in a symphonic band, and the parting indignity, as it were, are the risibly mechanistic drum rolls at the end, but for the listener who can bear it ...

Well, it appears that I am now scheduled for my first day of substitute teaching: 30 October. My phone rang super early several days this week, so there were assignments which I elected to miss (as I sorted out how to log into the pertinent app.) There is a two-day assignment for next week, but there was no way to accept Thursday, but keep Friday clear for PT. Still, it has been a week of progress.

I expect I've mentioned this months ago, but call it time for a refresher: percussionist Glenn Webb and a clarinetist as yet unknown to me will play just what everyone was expecting 114 № 1 on 10 Nov 2025 at Utah Tech University in St George, Utah. Yes, I am quite sure this is Henningmusick's Utah première. The event will be streamed, and I shall share details just as soon as I know 'em.

I have an app on my phone now for substitute teaching assignments. There was a meeting after church this morning. My phone was on mute, so there was no disturbance, but during the meeting I got notice of an assignment tomorrow, for "World Languages." I guess I'll find out what that means tomorrow. In accepting the job I'm engaging to get up much earlier on my birthday than I had planned, but hey, why not? I'll make sure I get my tush abed by 10.

Chap at church told me he likes the Op. 203 fixed media very much. Highly gratifying. Later and quite separately, one member of the band called to express (honestly) perfectly reasonable concern over the ambitious 14 October program, for which we have not yet had a full rehearsal. They were rational and the emotion was genuine, valid and temperate. I've said that at need we can punt two of the pieces to a later program (I have not yet sent the program to Heinrich.) So, we left it at: we shall see how Wednesday's rehearsal (only the second rehearsal, and in fact our first rehearsal with all four players) goes and take it from there.

Well, it turned out that I am very early, indeed. Now I know better for next time. I could have slept later. Mildly surprised that going to bed so much earlier went smoothly.

Excellent!  So have you:  1) Figured out how to use the app properly? and 2) Could you reschedule your PT to a time later in the day or would you need to reschedule it for a different day?

Thanks! No, my PT keeps such a busy schedule that rescheduling has almost never been practical, so I keep noon on Friday sacrosanct.
