Quote from: Cato on January 04, 2026, 11:33:08 AMTruly the work so far evokes an atmosphere of mystery and kaleidoscopic wonder!  The spirit of 😇 Bernard Herrmann 😇  might have been involved in that dream!  :D
Stravinsky and Miles are both in the musical DNA of the intro, particularly, but I've also reimmersed myself in the first season of Twilight Zone, so Bennie is certainly in the wings, too.
Good progress today. I could almost go on, but I think I want to bend a little thought on the flute duet now.

I may well reconsider here or there. The previous sound file I extracted in April. Not all the new work since is from now, but I'm kind of feeling that this project has dawdled long enow, and I want to reach the final double-bar, and then clean up. More work today, after I get back home after the blood draw.

Hi Karl,

Wondering how Maria and her mum (and you!) are doing?  Am behind in updates from your thread.

Hope that all is well,

K

Karl Henning

I'm pretty much over a cold which laid me near-flat most of December. Maria's running a temperature and feels miserable (I wasn't feverish so maybe she's picked up something new. Mom's trying to resist this. Viz. the radiation therapy, we're cautiously optimistic. Other than this new bug, Maria has been feeling pretty good.

Good to hear that you're feeling better.  Wondering whether that possibly Maria has picked up the current flu?  And all best wishes to her re treatment; that must be hard and in so many ways.   :( Love to you both.  In any event, I hope that she feels better and soon.  And best wishes to her mum...hope that she avoids colds/flu, etc.

A real performance should receive a standing ovation!

Another peerless, exquisitely crafted gem!

Check especially, besides the opening "chorale," the duet at Bar 58 and then the off-kilter melody at Bars 65 ff.

Hey Karl, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope they look after you well.

I've had three viruses in a row, starting in November. Lost my voice for weeks - a blessing for some, I guess.  And since I'm just now  fighting clear of the last one, it must be time for number 4!!

So here are multiple cheers from a comrade-in-arms.

It's one of those pieces that, once I had made a good start, it seemed to write itself. I wrote the ending too soon, (and yet it was clearly the ending.) So there was some creative inter-cutting.

Oh, dear!

I'm so sorry that you're feeling lousy.  Was your wife ever tested for the flu (not certain what they can test for these days)?  Are you experiencing any high temps?
