I met Larry Rinkel last year -- he came to one of my concerts.

Well, not really frequent;  in all the time I've been here, I probably went to that shop only five or six times.  Actually went there once with a chap I first met (again) via the NYTimes CMF, from out of town, and he did a passel of serious shopping.

Too bad. I was hoping for some cosmic connection I hadn't thought existed. :D

As a rule, I don't answer questions in the form of a sneer.

Ok, you just have proven you wear scarfs rightly ;)

I don't believe I've met any forum members.  Reblem also lives here in Albuquerque; it's quite possible I've seen him in a local record shop, but I don't know what he looks like.

I've had the pleasure of personally meeting Anne, Springrite and Nigel Wilkinson.

Anne and I still speak frequently on the phone. Springrite lives 5000 miles away from Las Vegas, and has a marvelous family of his own now. But those two people in particlular were there for me in my hour(s) of need. And for that I am eternally grateful to them.  I met Nigel (and his mother and niece) here in Las Vegas when they were vacationing in the U.S. There is not a more elegant person than Nigel on this forum.

Indeed.

And Christo and I will be meeting Vandermolen in October, too (in Leiden probably).

I really hope so  :)

I've met far fewer GMG'ers than I should like . . . but those whom I have met:

owlice (no longer active here)
Mark Simon (whom I've know rather longer via the NYTimes CMF, which has just this week gone defunct)
Burchest (now deceased, bless his soul)
bhodges
Barry (no longer active here)
M Forever (as the photo testifies)

There are many here whom I look forward yet to meeting in person, as Dame Fortune may allow.

Had the pleasure of meeting Jochanaan (John Rasmussen) at one of his recitals.  Like here, his take on music is spot-on, his wit is instantaneous, and most importantly, just a nice person.  What did make this meeting even more special though, was that he performed a piece of Karl's music (the first of two different compositions I have heard [erformed here in Colorado).

Sorry to hear that. I remember him from the old GMG. May God have mercy upon his soul.

That is ashame.  Do you folks recall what his avatar was at the old forum?

I really did mean to add the disclaimer that my scatterbrain must be forgetting . . . .

He didn't use one. He was kinda cranky online, but in person he was one of the kindest and most generous people I ever met. Incidentally, one of the few I ever actually did meet from here, in addition to Lilas Pastia twice. Pity there isn't more leisure time available, there are a dozen or so folks here I really would like to spend an afternoon (or better yet, an evening at the symphony) with. :)

PS - Bill, his original name on the old forum was Egmont, you're more likely to remember that. :)

I've met Wanderer in Athens this month.  8)

You sure did.  8)

And I also had the pleasure to meet Tony (esodizy) quite some time ago, again in Athens.
