Three of the 'Braga Santos Experts' at dinner together in Amsterdam on Saturday 31 January-

(left to right) Dundonnell, Christo and Jezetha.

Great photos, brought back happy memories for me.

Is that the church in Delft?  Looks like an interior whose slide I saw once.

There are two, Karl - the Old Church and the New Church. What you are seeing in the background is the Old Church, whose tower leans as much as the one in Pisa once did (it seems to have been corrected).

The buildings right here- is this what the housing looks like, generally?

No, not generally. This is the historic centre. I live in a high-rise flat (but not too high up)...

I'm jealous very happy for you guys!  ;)

Among the most pleasant experiences of my mid-years has been befriending, and meeting like-minded fellows. I make Dundonells' words mine and hope to meet and discuss with a few more of my fellow GMGers. It really IS a special experience. Maybe on my next european visit (2010, crossing my fingers)  :D

The Two Johans are prepared.  ;)

Wow, reading this thread reminding of how young I am compared to most members here.

It also tells you how young the members actually are... you know, looking at pictures of, say, an old symphonist ;) looking out the window beneath their handle makes you think that the members themselves are that old. :) It's a psychological thing, I suppose.

Thanks for the pictures, Dundonnell.

Navneeth

Maybe a bit of confusion here ;D The interior of the church in which Christo is telling Dundonnell about the history of the religion in the Netherlands is in Utrecht. Christo acted as our very well-informed guide to Utrecht on Saturday.

No complaining, I assure you :) His explanations were models of balance and dispassionate objectivity :)

Oh, that's all right;  it was one slide as part of a lecture on Vermeer.  I don't so much mind having got the town wrong in this recollection.  Will correct for future  8)

Make this black & white, and it could be hung next to Heisenberg meeting Bohr in Copenhagen over wave-function collapse! ;)

Lovely pictures.

And Greg, if you do not travel, I will travel to the US and drag you overseas. You have been warned. 8)

Looking dapper, Mr Dundonnell :).
