I had the pleasure of meeting Bill, aka Bogey, in Denver a few days ago. I was in Denver for a conference. (I am leaving tomorrow morning). Bill is a wonderful person and he treated me to a delicious Mexican dinner. We had wonderful conversations and found a lot in common. I would certainly look forward to hosting him and his family in Beijing, and meeting him again, next time with the family, in Denver.

Next year's conference will be in Baltimore. I would more than likely add a few days to the end of the trip so I can visit NY and Boston, possibly Chicago as well so I can meet more GMG'ers. I heard rumors that there are more concerts to go to in those cities than in Denver.

The closest GMG members to me are probably Jeffrey Smith, SonicMan, and Greg. If I'm ever up in Boston, I'll definitely stop by to see Karl Henning. Brian lives in TX and wouldn't mind meeting him since we're into some of the same composers. Gurn lives in TX as well. We could all schedule a meeting. That would be funny. I could picture the meeting now:

Gurn: I really like this Haydn work...
Brian: Dvorak's 8th is sublime...
Me: Did you know Koechlin wanted to be an astronomer?

:) Yeah, this meeting would be three different people on three completely different pages. Haha....

When you find out I live in Texas too, you'll want to cancel that meeting, lol...

Fortunately, it is  big state like TX and not R.I.

...or is Texas still not big enough?  :o

If Karl Henning intends to attend the Dutilleux Concert next February he may wish Severance Hall is bigger than Texas:
Cuz I may recognize him but he wont recognize me... 8)

As a psychologist and a friend of Karl, I will provide him (and others) with a psychological profile.

I once had a really nice chat to Karl on the phone. I don't know if that counts? Maybe half a point? If I add to that a couple of mail exchanges between us, it ought to get me nearly up to a full point, don't you think? (If there's any justice in the point system, that is.)

Heh...a beak as bright and yellow as yours will be unmistakable. Why do you think otherwise?

This all harmonizes with the tenor of the meeting Bill & I had this summer past. (Well, it was not a Mexican dinner . . . but in all things else.)

The closest member to me geographically (as well as in my heart  :D) is MN Dave.

I'm sure he's only about a 6 hour drive (at most away).  One day Dave, we ought to meet 1/2 half way somewhere for coffee?  :)

I'm still hoping for a visit from Paul (Springrite) or Brewski in Winnipeg, since they both have ties or connections to the 'Peg.

If there is one member I was I could meet one day more than any other, it would be Opus106 (Navneeth), although he is one of the furthest away from me, geographically.  The reason being, is we discovered and explored classical music at the very same time, and both joined our first music forum back in early 2006 (Beethoven.com).  So, we have that kinship with one another.

That being said, I'd welcome anyone to Winnipeg and it would be wonderful to meet another GMGer in the flesh!  (with clothes on to cover the flesh as a requirement)!  :D

A wonderful visit with Paul.  As Karl knows, my wife and he chatted more than I had a chance, but she always asks better questions and is a far superior listener than I am.  We hope to meet Paul again, possibly in China....that would be exceptional.  Then Linda can sit and listen and I hopefully can hear the same stories that Paul shared with me once more. :)

(I will post a pic once I have learned how to download the pics.)

Nonsense, toucan. I'm always up to meeting new, interesting people.

The monkey can play mandolin? That's what I'm learning now...

Anyone visiting Chicago can expect a cup of tea and good conversation. :)

I'm trying. I love the mandolin, and this here was a Christmas gift. I took guitar lessons years ago so I'm hoping some of that will relate.

Maybe 2-3 years, you and I can perform Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Mandolins, what do you think?  8)

I need to get there this year, my brother is in Chicago and it's been 4 years since I've been.
