I rarely post in this forum, but just returned from a performance of the hit Broadway 'show' The Light in the Piazza, which won a bunch of Tony awards - more of an operetta, I guess; put on by the Piedmont Opera in Winston-Salem, NC (my home town).

Of course, based on a book by Elizabeth Spencer (also, a film from 1962 w/ some major stars of the time) - one interest to me is that the author of the book used Winston-Salem as the home town of the Johnsons (Margaret & Clara), so the city is mentioned in one of the songs - kind of cool!  :D

The musicians/performers were a mixture of locals & 'professionals', many of whom I did not know; but just to mention a few - Clara Johnson was played by Sarah Jane McMahon, who seemed to have done quite a bit in NYC (Bruce et al from the area may know her) - she was outstanding as the daughter;  Fabrizio played by Erik Bryan (seem to be more active in the western part of the country, esp. Denver) - he was also very good - won't mention more, but the production was excellent - not sure that I really like this story (saw the film years ago, and want to see it again, now), but my wife had an enjoyable time.   :D

P.S. Review Here in our local paper after the opening performance - quite good!
