Last night I downloaded a file. A while later I tried again and it said "You've reached the limit of one file per hour. Please wait 2 more minutes." So I waited. Same error. An hour later, same error.

And now, today, I get on (having turned the computer off and on in the meantime), find something to download, and ... "You've reached the limit of one file per hour. Please wait 2 more minutes."

WHAT!  >:( >:( >:( >:( Somebody help me!!!

I thought the problem would be that they've incorporated ponies and aliens in the captcha.

No more downloads for you!  $:)

(I know. That didn't help.)

This may well not be the solution for everyone, but I completed a very large download yesterday, and to avoid all that crap, I bit the bullet and bought a 2 day premium membership for €4.99 through Paypal. It was worth every centime. :D

I bought one month in a similar experiment - 2 days for 4.50 and 1 month for 6.99 pretty much made the former not an option for me. Since then the account's bandwidth logs have averaged 5gb/day, so I will definitely renew it to a years sub when it expires, as I am finding it so useful. The only thing that sucks is how much the pound has plummeted vs. the Euro this year.

Anyone who uses RS a lot should probably consider trying premium for one month - I have very, very little disposable cash but still managed it, and found that it was worth my while (if you don't use it often, that's another matter). It only took me a week to be convinced of its worth. I have a dynamic IP, but this removed all the inconvenience of resetting a lot (a real pain in the butt if you use an instant messenger like MSN), plus if your connection isn't super-fast (like mine), you can set 10 large files DLing at the same time while you go to town, or wherever, and they'll be done when you come back : D

Thanks guys; by the way, problem was solved just by waiting two more minutes.  ;D

Great. Now the heathens at Rapidshare have switched to a totally unreadable "grid" code, and to add injury to insult, I get a new error: "The download cannot be provided. Please check, if your browser supports Javascript."

I tried to get a short membership, but my PayPal account is broken :-\.

Like you, I've had trouble with the grid. I take back everything I've ever said about those damn felines. Bring back the cats :'(.

For those having trouble with the grid, just stand back. ;)

they appear to have reverted to 15 minute pauses between free downloads which is a shame. However uploads can be 200mb. Great picture above!

yeah, Rapidshare keeps changing all the time, there is no sense of dependability.
