It was an enchanted afternoon watching the DVD of the performance at De Nederlandse Opera.

The cooperation between Pierre Audi, director, Patrick Kinmonth, set & costume designer, Christoph Rousset, conducting Les Talens Lyriques, resulted in a thing of sheer beauty. Stark geometric lines as the set and the perfectly colour coordinated fantasy costums worn by singers with thrilling voices made this another Pierre Audi success

It's a shame these DVDs are so expensive. I can buy almost any movie on DVD for 10 euros or even less but these operas never go under 20 euros.

But then the potential market for any (even the most popular) baroque opera is less than 1/1000 that of even the least-selling movie.

Unfortunately that's the case. It would be so cool to buy Rameau's operas on DVD for 10 euros!
