Yes, there's a treasure trove to choose from (that's what happens when you put the likes of Biden and Palin on the national stage) but list your one favorite statement from this campaign season...which has lasted two years...

"At first, I was nervous about appearing with the Palin family at the Republican National Convention, but then, you know, I was like, 'Whatever'."

- Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin's fiancee.

What can I say...it's one of the only sound bites I remember from American politics! :-\ 0:)

Going way back for this one, but it says a lot:

"At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop you c**t"

— John McCain, to his wife

This line could go down - and I mean down - as one for the ages.  Not jus of political campaign blunders, but in the entire political spectrum....along with "Let them eat cake" and Dukakis in a tank.

"Recently, John McCain has accused me of being socialist, because I say, 'Share the wealth'.  That's like saying I was being a Communist for sharing my toys in kindergarten."

Where did you find that?

The quote is from '92, but I think it says a lot about someone's character if they can call even their own wife a name which is arguably the worst thing you can call a woman.

karlhenning

Doesn't jive with my family values.

That is utterly abysmal.

"Barack Obama is now denying that he is email pals with the beautiful actress, Scarlett Johansson. Remember that story? They were saying that Scarlett Johansson and Barack Obama were emailing each other. He says no, it's not true. In fact his exact words were 'I did not have textual relations with that woman.'" --Jay Leno

In front of the press no less, bc she was teasing him in a playful manner.

Classy guy, that McCain.

"I think you may have noticed that Senator Obama's supporters have been saying some pretty nasty things about Western Pennsylvania lately."

"Boooooooooooo..."

"And you know, I couldn't agree with them more,"

What's the deal with all the booooooooooing going on at McCain rallies? It sounds pathetic.

Quote I like the most is the recent, "You're all Joe the Plumber", which probably sums up their attitude towards "us" quite well.

Those poor kids.  I sure hope they can get out of getting married after this election.  I was half expecting the McCain campaign to move the wedding up as a campaign gimmick.

What do you mean?

McCain's "The fundamentals are strong" quote is analogous to Marie Antoinette's cry of, "Let them eat cake!" was the straw that broke the camel's back during the French Revolution. The story goes that Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, was informed that her subjects were starving because they had no bread. She was so pampered and out of touch with the reality of life for the poor that she responded, "Let them eat cake," which is what she would have done if she were out of bread. Marie Antoinette was convicted of treason and executed in 1793, months after her husband, King Louis XVI, had suffered the same fate.

McCain's statement - in the midst of the epicenter of the financial collapse - displayed how little understanding of economics the senator has.  Considering the turmoil the markets and the economy are undergoing at the moment (and make no mistake...a collapsed financial syatem is a far more ruthless and efficient manner to destroy a country than blowing up its buildings), he is NOT the man to be president.

It'd sort of be like the captain of the Titanic stating, "The ship is perfectly fine" an hour after hitting the iceberg.

Besides "everybody knows it", do you have an irrefutable proof that she really said that? Because the matter is far from settled.

What amazed me - and said essentially what I need to know regarding Palin - is that this kid is dropping out of high school to get a job to support his new wife and child.

I have to say, if my child was ever in that position, I would absolutely make sure - DAMN sure - that I gave them every opportunity financially and otherwise to finish high school (and not via a g.e.d.) and even help them with any educational aspirations beyond.  It's NOT some worthless piece of paper.  At the least, it's a source of esteem.  And an education can shape you in ways you can never measure, years and yeasr from now.

At the most cynical, you think they would create this arrangement if only for the national media and to project an image of wanting to be "THE EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION"...right?  At the least, it's good P.R.

....I guess it does display that Palin...the things she does and says...they ARE sincere.  She's not playing that up to the camera.  her postitions aren't made to accomodate the public, the party, etc.  She is who she is, and holds those values firm.
