In the photo that you posted to the right, who is that on the far left?

Not sure where to put it, but just saw this xkcd illustration "Global Temperature Timetable" for the first time:

One for the "climate is always changing" crowd.

Caneletto's The Stonemason's Yard

Mentioned in a book I'm reading. Looking for the image I learn that on the National Gallery's website one can zoom in and out of the image with a really impressive amount of clarity and detail. I'll be spending more time on the site later, and exploring which other galleries have something similar available.

It's great when you can see artwork like that.  :)

Circling back to the picture of Shostakovich with a young Khatchaturian:

The young man on the left might be in fact Aram's son or nephew, both of whom were named Karen. The son became an art critic, while the nephew was also a composer. Haven't seen any photos of the nephew as a young man but here's one of the son with Aram.

Cross post from the WAYLTN thread.

This week I've been on vacation in the splendid town of Sighișoara and took a picture of the Guilds House. Here it is:

The plaque on the left side of the building reads:

I'm not sure why, but it brings to mind Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms.

This might be my favorite Beksinski, used it in one of my art collages.
