Quote from: hopefullytrusting on Today at 06:26:47 PMI do not speak French, and the version I own does not have subtitles, yet, I was still moved by the powerful performance of the main character and the tragedy of her existence, especially with the interactions with her mother and the true desperation you see when she is forced to confront the ethical dilemma of honor and survival. A striking film. A beautiful film. Rosetta (1999).

I don't know which edition you have, but these are from Criterion.

Finally, collected in a trade paperback - Survival Fetish is a harrowing tale whose title is literal. The art is gorgeous, and the story depressingly nihilistic - one of my favorite combinations.

I submit to moderation and respectfully point out that most of the works regard the period before 1992 when Moldova was part of the USSR and had not still been annexed to Romania so much so that on the previous page we talk about eduard lazarev,Khachaturian,Lidiya Auster

My friends just gave me a pile of CDs, mostly organ music. It includes most of this box. Do the organ-lovers here like the performances in it?

Pēteris Vasks
Violin Concerto 2 'In Evening Light'
Munchener Kammerorchester
Sergej Bolkhovets

Vasks moves me emotionally, I'm not ashamed to admit. His music speaks of another world and a greater hope.

Bravo, Mr V.
