These might be more for the completist, Harry...?

Well yes, and for people with little money I guess.
There are some real treasures there to be had!

Yeah? Like what?

I read the lineup and looks like two loser releases with performances nobody wants.

You know perfectly well that is not true. Just because you find no favour in it does not mean that the performances are losers!
You are talking about musicians that dedicated their time and effort to record this music.
It is a useless remark or comment so you will.

Agreed. I've just been sampling some of these pieces, and they were not at all bad. I am always looking for new Beethoven, even one or two gems would justify the price. The Piano Trios sounded well to my ears.

I think the major labels are reacting to Brilliant's avalanche of boxed sets on famous composers.
Harry, you pointed out a really excellent LvB set on Sony earlier.

These sets by EMI will provide more stiff competition!  ;D

True Q, this Sony set is still available, and also a excellent buy.

Harry, do you know where one might find this Sony set? I would love another good Beethoven Boxed Set.

I'm certainly not averse to box-sets, but these are a bit much for me.  I looked at the Schubert set, and the Hungarian Quartet and Christian Zacharias aside, I'm not too interested in the recordings.  Given EMI's "The Greatest Artists" line, you'd figure they pack the set with their best stuff, yet where's Beecham's timeless symphony recordings for instance?

The Beethoven set is much better: Eric Heidsieck, Ferras / Barbizet (which I'm listening to right now as it happens), the Hungarian Quartet.  Yes, this may be worth a few bucks.
