Now enjoying this superb set, which arrived over the weekend. The sound is wonderful and I got the 7CD set for only $16.99 new from amazon! For CD 1, I compared it to the EMI SACD and I preferred the more laid back sound on the CD, which was mastered by the great Art & Son. CDs comes in original jackets, but all but one have 50+ minutes of music. And each disc slleve has full fisc contents with recording venues/dates, unlike so many other box sets that give you zero info on the sleeves.

A wonderful set, I would snap it up immediately if I didn't already have the entire contents twice, some of it more.

The companion sets devoted to Sibelius and Mahler are just as good.

I have the Warner Complete Barbirolli box, for which all these remasterings were made. Some of these pieces Barbirolli recorded two or more times, although the mini-set uses only the chronoligically last.

I haven't got (or heard, aside from the Baker, Du Pre, and string orchestra selections) this one, but in general I really enjoy the design of these Warner reissue boxes. A consistent (not hideous) exterior style, original jackets, very helpful sleeves as you describe. (I find jackets like this especially useful if, say, I know I only have 25 minutes to listen to something and need to quickly see what track(s) will get me there.)

Even better, it seems like someone at Warner is actually thinking how to release these. For years, EMI was mindlessly reissuing the same dozen box sets in endless new artwork schemes, with no difference between them. Now they have established a consistent style, they are including new mastering where possible, and, best of all, someone appears to be going through the archive finding cool stuff. Including from old subsidiaries like Erato and Teldec. One of my favorites is the box of all the Spanish music recordings by Jean-François Heisser. Super handy!

Getting way off track here, but if their reissue producer is reading this, they could do a great Scarlatti On Piano box with Pletnev, Queffelec, Tipo, Hinrichs, Zacharias, Meyer, and Kipnis. It would come in somewhere around a dozen discs.

I concur.  Of course, I already own all but the Tipo and Kipnis.

amw on Tipo (https://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php/topic,29228.msg1242120/topicseen.html#msg1242120), Distler on Kipnis (https://www.classicstoday.com/review/review-6457/?search=1). Not that you need more temptations.

I'm not in a big hurry to hear more harpsichord music, so I can wait on Kipnis.  For Tipo, I am hoping for the big box treatment.  I want all her recordings, including Clementi, Schumann, Chopin, etc.  It must happen.

Shoot, I don't know why I thought Kipnis was on a modern piano when there's a sound clip in that link. Wishful thinking? Probably.

A great sounding set and the presentation is all you could ask for. I had the older iteration of this Elgar Barbirolli set, but I gifted it to my dad as I was more pleased with the current remastering than the older one.
