This is Chonkosaurus. It's a snapping turtle by the Chicago River.

In other news, I hear murmurings about F-16s. That is all.

Who Said Recycling Was Green? It Makes Microplastics By the Ton

A study finds one plastics recycling plant in the U.K. produces as much as 3 million pounds of microplastics a year—and that's with filtering.

Quote from: James Bruggers"It seems quite backward to me," said plastics researcher Erena Brown, who led the research while she was a graduate student at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. "With plastic recycling, we have designed and initiated it in order to start protecting our environment. I think this study has shown that we have ended up creating a different if potentially slightly worse problem."

Kinda wish the police were really competent to police themselves, the way they're apt to insist that they're doing so.

The weather has wreaked havoc on upcoming fruit harvests.  Read one story recently of a farm that specializes in blueberries.  They are currently estimating that they've lost up to something like 80 percent of their crop due to late hard frosts.   :(
