Famous old recording:
"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).

I've listened to the first two toccatas. Good sound, performance tasteful and and rather good I'd say, the sort of neo baroque organ sound we are all used to, but not at all bad.

(He's recorded Boyvin too, on an Andreas Silbermann instrument. A Raven CD)

Of course I'm interested too, but the CDs seem to be difficult to get hold of on my location.

What are your top 3 Muffat recordings? Do you like the recording from Naxos?

For a moment I thought Flamboyant Bien-Aime was another French 18th century composer I haven't heard of.

What composers are included?

I grew up with Heinz-Marcus Göttsche's recording (DaCamera LP) and still find this to be the most satisfying version despite sound from the 1960es.

Of newer recordings I prefer:

Joseph Kelemen
Martin Haselböck
René Saorgin

That's a wonderful work! :D
I got hooked on this Serenata a tre,  basically a little chamber opera, by the lovely recording below when all the Vivaldi I knew were violin concertos.. Really opened my eyes to the many sides of the composer.

PS Now I notice that in the meantime there is even more competion in recordings of this rare piece:

I haven't heard of Heinz-Marcus Göttsche. Kelemen and Haselbock are my favorites. Ill look for the Saorgin.

Wouldn't you know, right after I order the big box, this comes out.  Of course, I am more interested in the non-Bach things.

It does, I didn't realise she'd recorded so much Bach, for example.
