Updated Topics - if I reply to a thread, the thread will pop up in this list. How can I get a thread on this list without posting in the thread?

You can't --- but if you click on Unread Posts you will get a list of all threads where a new post has been made, not only those threads where you posted.

Bummer. On the old version it was an option. Maybe its something Rob can enable.

Oh, interesting!  I didn't know that.  I do know that if you go under "Preferences" you can click on something along the lines of "Notify me of new threads".

p.s.  And thanks Karl.  I had found the "Delete all" button earlier.  :)

You can delete alerts but I have to do it one by one. I marked all alerts read, and tried to delete them all at once, by clicking at the bottom of the page, but that does not work for me!

Any chance we can make "modify" into a button alongside "quote"" etc? So many edits I make are about changing font style etc that I wonder if it would be better to just change "quick edit" to "modify".

"Save draft" is a PITA for me -- I keep pressing it instead of "post" and get some pesky warning

Also, annoyingly, mentions don't produce the list of members names in quick edit (it does in modify)

And even more annoyingly, if you start a quick edit and then realise you need some feature of modify, you lose all the changes you've made if you change.

As you can see, I'm not a fan of quick edit, or the UI for this part of the software.

So, clicking on "Delete all Read Alerts" didn't work?  Are you sure that you didn't perhaps click on a button (not sure if there is one) that first changed all of the alerts to "Unread"?

PD

EDIT:  I'm not seeing any button to do that (as in "Mark all unread").

I just discovered the alerts feature which I like.

Blimey, Jeffrey, you are really 50 years behind today...  ;D

Eh? I've never seen such an option.

Edit: If it was an option to control which threads appeared on Updated Topics, there are certain threads I would have REMOVED from there several years ago. I remember specifically asking.

Thanks, Gurn! It'd be great if something could actually be done about this annoying glitch, though. 😎

True,  but it won't be by me.  Using this as a workaround,  I never knew the other problem existed.  So there's that... 😃

@Dungeon Master - Those threads that appear when I click "Updated Topics," how can I remove one or more of those topics from being in that list?

You can't. As I previously said, I asked years ago.

I get checkboxes next to the topics and can choose to mark them all as read or individual topics as read. Do you not?

I've been away from the internets. Are there any ongoing glaring deficiencies in the forum that need addressing?
