Good value. Enjoy your purchases.  :)
Thanks!  Hope to listen to some of it later whilst doing some KP duty and cooking.

Yesterday I received this greatly anticipated Bear Family 20CD box set:

I was born and grew up in Shreveport, LA, and the Louisiana Hayride was a big part of my personal history.  However its glory days were largely before my time.  This collection was lovingly produced with a 200+ hardcover book outlining the history of the Hayride and comprehensive discographical information of all the tracks and acts in addition to 20 CDs of the music, which was performed by most of the great country artists of the '40s, '50s, and '60s.

The Hayride was something of a farm club for the Opry.  Hank Williams did two stints there, first before he had "made it" and then after he blew it, the last months before his death.  It is widely believed that Elvis Presley killed the Hayride.  When he appeared the audience became more teenagers and rock 'n' roll fans, to the point that the traditional country audience began to stay away.  Then after Presley's short stay, the country acts had lost traction and the Hayride had lost its audience.  It limped along until about 1965, but was nothing like it had been prior to the mid-50s rock 'n' roll phenomenon. I think an investor group brought it back for a while in the '80s - but I have no knowledge of how that went.

Bear Family boxes are lavishly done but issued in limited numbers and go out of print in a few years after being released.  They can usually be found in the secondary market, but often at highly inflated costs.  I must have bought one of the last copies on Amazon, since the day after I ordered mine the price jumped up double to what I paid.

I have a bunch of these Bear Family boxes, and will buy one every now and then - they are fantastic.

A new-to-me artist:  Jenny Lewis.  It's an album called Acid Tongue.

I had heard a bit of it in the record store (was playing) and enjoyed it.  I don't know much about her yet.  What I've heard so far was kind of folksy/country.  I believe that she also writes her own music.

Elvis Costello is one of the artists playing on the album.

You can read more about it here:  https://www.brooklynvegan.com/jenny-lewis-200-1/

CD, 1977 recording.

Arrived in mail today as import.  Normally I wouldn't go through the expense and trouble of ordering a CD of barely a half hour of music from a movie that I'm embarrassed I actually watched.  However, the substantial "borrowing" from Carmina Burana ("O Fortuna") during the opening credits and the skyscraper sequence is mesmerizing-- at least for me.

That looks interesting.  What are some of the musicians on there that you like?

Purchased here recently a copy of this Hollies LP:

I had heard some of it in another record store whilst shopping with a friend.  I passed on it due to the price, but my friend bought it.  He pointed it out at another record store (It was a copy at a much better priced that seemed to be in good shape.); I went for it.  :)

I was familiar with some of their 60s era output, Ewan McColl, Peggy Seeger, Hedy West etc. But was unfamiliar with their catalogue from the 70s to now, so it's very useful to have some signposting and guidance from the samplers and the notes.

Oh, so it's not just British folk singers?

Happy exploring!  :)

I have pre-ordered Ju-on: The Grudge Collection on Arrowfilms. £60 delivered.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Have been looking for the CD for 25 years. (Missed it in an earlier incarnation).  Just ordered it from overseas.  Morricone soundtrack to Death Rides a Horse (1967).

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

A Christmas present given to me by a friend.  I had told him about Celeste and gave him some links to her music.  So glad that he remembered and a very nice gift!  :)

Celeste's Not Your Muse (Deluxe edition on CD).

About 4 years ago(?), I saw an article on the BBC's website about new and very talented artists to check out.  "Strange" was the first song that I heard and was intrigued by both the song and her singing style.  Totally love the song "Stop This Flame" (great *video too by the way).  I suspect that footie fans have heard this song before.  ;D

Looking forward to listening to it.
