Interesting.  Have you read this?

It tells a fascinating story, which leaves little room for doubt (or sympathy.)

She appears to have had a remarkable ability to convince people who really should have known better, to disbelieve the evidence of their own eyes and ignore even the most basic rational appraisal.  I wouldn't bet against that working with the judge. ::)
The url image didn't show but I could see what you were referring to when I quoted your post.  And, no, I haven't read it.  I have been following along in the news off and on though.  Some websites are saying that folks in the Silicon Valley are carefully (and with bated breath) following the trial/verdict/sentencing as they are concerned as to how founders of companies are being held to task and what the penalties might be in store for those accused of fraud, etc.

Re your comments, no, I don't think that that is going to work on the judge.

Re:  Elizabeth Holmes

11 years and 3 months but starting (I believe it is to be ) April 27.  I suspect that this is after her due date.  Women can and have given birth in prison.  Would be interesting to know the stats like re race/income level/what they were convicted of, etc., and who has been given the kind and humane option to give birth outside of prison and forestall their incarceration.

Interesting timing regarding her pregnancies and the options that we have these days in terms of avoiding getting pregnant (thinking of Jo's comments and earlier times).  Did she think that she would really be able to get house arrest (or very little time in prison?)?  *Or....??  I can't read her mind, but I do feel sorry for her kids.  :(  They are the biggest losers in this whole thing I hate to say; they're innocent.

*I'm not certain of the date when she was convicted vs. also when she became pregnant for the second time to be fair in this matter when I was typing this.

It will be interesting to see if Mr Booker or any other prominent politicians plead for leniency for Samuel Bankman-Fried when the time comes.
Even if SBF starts identifying as female (he's got slight manboobs already now) I doubt he will be able to plead the belly ;)

I've had three consecutive amazon orders, delivered by their own delivery service, delivered to the wrong address. The first one amazon said was "handed directly to a resident," although no one here received it. Two days later it appeared on your doorstep with the outer package opened. The second two amazon said were left on the porch, complete with a photo showing the package on someone else's porch. They haven't shown up.

Now I have to struggle with amazon to get those orders refunded.

:o  Wow!  Is your house/address particularly hard to find?  Numbering in my area is a bit strange and also the way that the roads split and intersect too.  My road's name is also followed by, I don't know the exact number, by various "suffixes" as in Road, Court, Avenue....you get the picture--though in these days of gps, one would think that they would get it right?   :-\

You would think though that they would all show up?  And one would like to think that someone opened your package in error (not noticing to whom it was addressed).  At my end, I've gone to the trouble of either *delivering things myself or calling the company (if there was a phone number listed on the packing label) or call FedEx myself and ask them to come and pick it up.

*One package arrived here Christmas Eve and at the risk of it being a present, I brought it to the correct address myself (no phone number in the phone book, so off I went).

Anyway, good luck with Amazon!

I live in a development with an array of very similar houses, so I think the issue is some sort of dyslexia on the driver's part which is causing him or her to misread the address. In the first case I suspect the recipient opened the package assuming it was theirs, only to notice the wrong address. I don't know what happened to the other two (which were delivered on the same day). You can't report a package missing on Amazon until it is lost for 24 hours, so now it is eligible.

At this point I think I will just avoid Amazon unless it is absolutely the only alternative. They also have the option of delivering to a locker, which I may have to do.

Is there a Whole Foods near you?  I know that they have lockers there.  I don't know where else they have them (I also haven't used Amazon in ages).

There are quite a few in our area, including a WF market where we shop, which I may have to resort to.

In August, an Amazon parcel for a different address was left by us, we opened it in error (we were expecting an Amazon delivery. I walked it across the street and left it on the correct porch, a house in kind of a cluster (we don't know these neighbors) a few weeks ago, Amazon informed me that my package was left in my mailbox (it was not) Happily, they sent a replacement without fuss.
Good luck!

This kind of shit happened to us in Romania too.

Our address in Bucharest is 5, Turnu Măgurele Str. Problem is, Turnu Măgurele is also a city, so a few years ago our package was sent to that city.

At least it they provided a refund with not much bother. If I can't find an alternate vendor I'll probably re-order with shipment to a locker.

Karl,

There isn't any link showing up here.

Is this the one about a young man who was accidentally invited by a family (that he didn't previously know) to Thanksgiving?

I use them whenever I have an Amazon fulfilled order. The usual location is a 7-11 near me.

I've had a few misdirected orders off Amazon Marketplace: the mailman sometimes delivers them to a neighbor: I've gotten them all in the end, for which I should be thankful (I suppose) for having good neighbors.
