An exciting new poll, from the maker of the 5 Favourite Shostakovich Symphonies Poll. :P Vote now! :)
My vote is in. In chronological order, currently my 5 favourites are: 4, 8, 10, 13, 15
I voted for #8, my second favorites are #6, #10-15.
I picked 6, 8, 9, 10 and 15.
This poll is harder than the symphonies poll, because all the DSCH quartets are good. I wouldn't be without any of 'em.
3, 6, 8, 10, 15
Favorite is 3.
Good question. I'm not sure my 21st century attention span could take finding out.

Wait till we eventually get to the "Your Favorite 5 Segerstam Symphonies" poll. At this rate, we should get to that by Christmas.

Oh, boy!
5, 8, 10, 11, 13 were my picks as second voter. Actually no 13 is my overall favorite, though it is scary as hell.

I didn't pick that one because of the scariness. I can't listen to it often because it makes me depressed and disoriented.
3 6 10 13 15 BORODIN
The last five I've listened to.

The Borodin Quartet recording of numbers 2 and 12 is right down my alley.

Sarge, I'm glad you picked # 4. Currently my favourite of them all. :)

Four movements, three of them Allegrettos. Who could
not love that 8)

Anyone notice something strange about the poll? It says 13 members have voted, and yet #8 has received 14 votes :o ...and that despite several (including myself) who didn't vote for it ;D

It could be that some people voted and later resigned their membership.

That's probably it, as I'm one of them. :D

I love the 3rd movement, with the ostinato theme. Ostinatos are a former heavy metal headbanger's dream! 8) ;D :)

:D Don't think you'd ever see that kind of consistent tempo marking in any Brahms' work! ;D

Yeah, probably. Strange, though, that the software would delete them in the "total members voted" box but not delete their actual votes.

Vote early and often!
2, 3, 4, 5, 8. My very fave is the 3.
2, 3, 9, 12 & 13. 9 as overall favourite, at the moment.
I only like one at the moment: 5. And I only like that in this performance with Mikhail Kopelman

I've spent so much time with these SQs over the last few months, that I probably know them better than most others in the repertoire.
My order of preference shifts so often to make a definitive list a bit pointless, but currently...
10, 2, 5, 6, 14, 4, 8, 7, 3, 9, 12, 15, 13, 11, 1
My perspective on these works as difficult or even impenetrable over the years, has moved to a deep appreciation and love. Such is the power of determined listening to understand great, but not always easy, music.
I hope to spend more time with the pieces in the next time. For some reason I hardly know some of them. Apparently I always listened to a similar selection in the past. My favorites were 3, 5, 8 and 11. But I found the old favorite #8 a bit meh when I listened to it recently. Additionally I voted 12 because I listened to it a couple of weeks ago and was favorably impressed. #1 is nice but slight and I used to find #2 too long.
