Quote from: Papy Oli on April 08, 2023, 01:35:21 AMWatched the first episode last night based on your post. Ok, that was unsettling and funny. We'll carry on  ;D

I have one to go. Loses it's way a bit in the middle but then picks up for a moving finale.

Watching the undertaker assistant dancing around a coffin to Warewolves of London had me in stiches. ;D
You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Re Rain Dogs

We ended up bingeing the remaining 7 episodes last night  :-[  Not entirely sure what hooked us about it but it sure did  :o

You couldn't help but rooting for all of them in some sort of weird way.

This series is one strange beast.  ;D

From the depths of depravity love conquers all! Set up for a second series, methinks.

What about the scene when the posh mums are trying to work out the subject of Lenny's artwork! ;D

Quite!

It was good acting all round. We warmed up to Daisy May Cooper very recently when watching an older series of Taskmaster so that helped for Rain Dogs. We'll have to seek out her more comedic output (e.g. This Country).

Not seen Jack Farthing in anything before but he was just mesmerizing.

Daisy May Cooper not only stars but also wrote Am I Being Unreasonable? which received excellent reviews. We have it lined up for this weekend.

We'll have to try that one, Lol, as "This Country" didn't work for us.

We are also now halfway through Blue Lights, a crime series set in the Northern Ireland Police series, about 3 policemen/women in their probation period. Quite nicely done and gripping enough. Just a bit more close to the bone than normal given the threats reported lately in the news.

Hey, a show which features gardening AND a cat?!  Right up my alley!  ;D

Thanks for tip, Olivier. Will pass on This Country.

Starting to find British cop shows boring as all so similar. We were fans of the Nordic genre but they have become samey too.

Aussie comedy Colin from Accounts on the BBC IPlayer.

Ashley is a medical student who has just been dumped. Gordon runs a micro-brewery and has always been unlucky in love. The two are thrust together when, distracted by Ashley's actions, Gordon hits a stray dog with his car.

Blunt, sarcastic, sometimes puerile, at times dark or creepy but an absolute understated little gem of a Rom-Com of sorts at its most adorable and heart-warming, without ever being soppy or unrealistic. 8 x 30 min episodes, crammed with characters and side-stories, binged in less than 24 hours, leaving us now terribly missing Gordon & Ashley.

Man, this was a great watch.

Watched first two episodes, fresh as new paint and very funny. Really odd reading nipplegate posts on another thread after just viewing Gordon and Ashley's first meeting! :o

Glad you enjoy it, Lol!

We're still laughing our head off at some of the scenes and lines. I think it will have a re-watch sooner rather than later.

The Mandalorian Season 1
Pedro Pascal
Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, Werner Herzog

I usually get around to watching streaming series' well past their prime, which is why I am actively avoiding the Star Trek thread currently.

Started this one last night.

Just finished series 1 of Vera.  I discovered the show when at my parents.  The later episodes are great.  Starting from the beginning, the first three episodes were a bit confusing and melodramatic.  But then the fourth episode was a banger!  I'll be starting series 2 soonish.
