The Diner / Re: What TV series are you cur...

That sounds like the UK sitcom Friday Night Dinner, about an upper middle class Jewish family who all gather for the titular meal each week and have wacky, slapsticky disputes. Also very silly, also funny, also unburdened by today's obsession with character development arc. I think it's still on Prime.

Oh, I see from Wiki that the new show is indeed an American remake - and that the original American remake pilot episode starred Tony Shalhoub and Allison Janney.

Unfortunately there is a possibility that the anti-bot filter measures Rob implemented on April 14 may be related - although I am only guessing based on timeframe. It could certainly be a coincidence.
Hmmm...As someone who has and wanted to be a member of the forum (or using other sites) sometimes has had problems...occasionally, I've had a hard time deciphering the "Captcha" writing.  Perhaps it's that?  Just a thought.

Composer Discussion / Re: Sir Arnold Bax

Quote from: kyjo on Today at 11:04:41 AMBoth of Bax's cello sonatas (the one in E-flat as well as the Legend-Sonata) are fine works, full of Baxian hallmarks and strong ideas. They've both received excellent recordings by cellists Paul Watkins (on Chandos) and Johannes Moser (on Hänssler) respectively. On the other hand, I don't rate his Cello Concerto (or his Violin Concerto) very highly, though to be fair it's been a while since I've listened to it. I recall a frustrating lack of memorability, a trait that often characterizes Bax's weaker works.
Thanks Kyjo, for your comments.  I'll do some more poking around.

Hope that your studies(?) or hiring is/are going well?

All the best,

Quote from: Karl Henning on Today at 11:13:17 AMI smile to hear a chap make erudite a four-syllable word.
I should have anticipated how you might reimagine erudite, friends, and not unreasonably. I ought to clarify that he pronounced erudite with two vowels between the 'r' and 'd.'

Concerning my catching of a part of Au Jardins de Marguerite by Ducasse this morning on the radio:

Quote from: pjme on Today at 07:19:05 AMIndeed, a couple of weeks ago. :)

https://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php/topic,29166.msg1559672.html#msg1559672

It is a large  one hour symphonic poem with chorus and solo voices . lyrics by the composer , after Goethe.

So somebody at that radio station really enjoys the work!  It would be unusual to program it again after only a month!
