It is a very fine album. The duet of Matthew Shipp and Polish saxophonist and woodwind player Mateusz (Mat) Walerian.

Listened to exerpts. Purchased some free jazz albums yesterday and today, will top it off with your recommendation.

Not only the French compose. They haven't heard of Don Cherry and his superior performers. ;D

Hubbard and Shorter again. They seem to have recorded quite a few times. I wonder about their live performances and if there are records made of it.

Jazz Giants of the 20th Century tubi

Ok compilation streaming free on tubi (link above). First half of the 70 minute film is composed of post-war black and white clips featuring the leading Jazz lights of that era. The second half is a series of talking heads talking jazz history. Makes you appreciate more sophisticated combos of clips and conversation like Ken Burns' Jazz, derided as it sometimes is for its scant coverage of late 20th century jazz.

The Miles Smiles "session reels" from this set. Fascinating to hear the struggle these top musicians had to get the takes perfect.

The only Louis CD I have, a comp spanning several decades. Open to recommendations.

Do you like the first two tracks on that? Because they are from the Hot Five, and pretty much everyone, myself included, will tell you that you need the Complete Hot Fives And Hot Sevens, either the 4cd JSP box or the 4cd Columbia. There are some acceptable single disc selections, but you'll soon regret what you're missing.

If you prefer the four tracks at the end you could get the full "Plays W.C.Handy" album that those come from, and would probably also like the similar "Plays Fats Waller" album they haven't sampled.
