The Diner / Re: What game are you playing?
Last post by DavidW - Today at 11:44:38 AM
So I finished Mirage. There was a good plot twist at the end and a decent game. I bought it on Black Friday. It was worth it at a deep discount.

I started Hellblade 2, but I've had so many crashes. It is a known issue on their FAQ with the proposal to disable overclocking in the bios... but I don't overclock anything. Whatever, the game is photorealistic, but lacking in gameplay with a much weaker story than the first one and just doesn't have the charm of the first one.

So now I am playing Silent Hill 2 Remake. It is SO GOOD. It is faithful to the original. I'm loving it so far.

Man, the creative arts are crazy: Felix Landau's Days of Pearly Spencer - sounds like Kermit the Frog doing an early 1980s club hit. Lol.

Great Recordings and Reviews / Re: New Releases

There is a new Martha Argerich EMI/Warner "complete" box coming but it is just a repackaging of the two previous Argerich EMI/Warner boxes with the studio recordings and the Lugano recordings.

Quote from: Hitch on Today at 09:31:17 AMGrieg - Violin Sonata No.2 in G major, Op.13
Yehudi Menuhin, Robert Levin

I first met this enlivening piece many years ago when playing a so-so but atmospheric computer game, Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Silver Earring. The soundtrack had original music therein but also incorporated some movements from Grieg, Schumann, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky chamber pieces. Scouring beautifully detailed Victorian rooms (sometimes allegro animato as in the sonata's finale) in the company of such composers engendered said salon atmosphere.

I first encountered a lot of classical music through computer games as diverse as Europa Universalis and RollerCoaster Tycoon.

The obvious Beatles answer to me is "Run for Your Life."
