Great thread topic. Here one of mine, found in a quaint and curious seaside shop near one of our favorite vacation spots on the California Central Coast.
I am a biologist and I know a thing or two about algae (and their evolutionary offshoots, like malaria), but her perspective is one of a visual artist and historian. Her book is a fascinating and beautiful tour of organisms and ecosystems few people ever think much about. Everyone should read (or at least peruse) this book!

Oh cool! I don't know whether or not you've heard about these houses in Denmark (and of other countries, architects, etc., figuring out new ways to use seaweed). I found the article to be fascinating!
