  • Love for Three Oranges Suite
  • Semyon Kotko Suite
  • Summer Night Suite
  • War and Peace Suite

I really took to the Suite from War & Peace on Chandos last I listened.

Do you have any favorite recordings? Jarvi?
If you are interested in listening to orchestrations of solo/chamber music, you might be interested in this thread.
Also looking for recommendations on neglected conductors thread.

For me yes, although I have a couple CPO recordings from Mikhail Jurowski as well. Jurowski is more artful, whereas Jarvi is unfailingly energetic and brass forward. The nice thing with Jarvi's exhaustive Chandos run, is you get some of those rarer ballet/film suites as pairings too.

I am not sure if Rozhdestvensky or Svetlanov covered any opera suites, however.

I've made a playlist for those interested: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/12pd5rwfAeq1m23JsKwf8m?si=06c94feea5ee476f

I'll be deleting things as I am done listening to them so it's not forever but it's already big. Finding operatic suites isn't as easy I thought unfortunately.

Someone also digitized LPs of Opera without Words that I don't believe have been issued on CD:

The entire playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkgB4abdeVc&list=PL1gAgJIplj-nQTi1K1ZxC3-I1tcOUvxbY&index=1
