Quote from: Karl Henning on Today at 11:26:07 AMI've not yet watched "Lethal Ladies," though I have seen perhaps four episodes which she directed. I first heard of her just because her name was in a line of the Firesign Theatre album, Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers. She is the only person to act in one Twilight Zone episode ("The Sixteen-millimeter Shrine") and direct another ("The Masks") both of them Serling scripts.
Tangentially, she appeared in two Columbo episodes.

Quote from: Pohjolas Daughter on Today at 11:09:12 AMHave you watched "Lethal Ladies" yet?  I watched the first segment with Ida Lupino.  Hadn't heard of her before now, but I was very impressed with her acting.  Also interesting to read (via Wiki) about her life and being one of the first women directors.

Quote from: Karl Henning on Today at 10:19:41 AMI am, so I started from when it was largely crime drama.

Ivo Jirásek
Symphony - 'Matka Naděje' or 'Mother Hope'
Zdeněk Košler
Czech Philharmonic
Supraphon

Left field discovery while looking for Novak's, 'The Storm' on Spotify (which doesn't seem to be available for streaming).

Can't find much on Jirásek at all, on t'internet. I like this symphony very much, however. Atmospheric, dramatic, thoughtful, punctuated with contemplative passages that build and drop tension, loud and strident brass and percussion... niiiice....

Composing and Performing / Re: Henning's Headquarters

I've made free to vent when I've felt discouraged by all the Calls which come up empty, e.g. so I want to counterbalance that with how deeply gratified I am that four colleagues here in the Ensemble are such enthusiastic supporters of my work. Especially the newcomers Dan and Dave. I have no monetary inducement to attract them, they basically allowed themselves to be recruited through Peter's fervent advocacy on my music's behalf.

CNN article of a classical music cafe in Tokyo. I have visited there numerous times. I think there are about 10 classical music cafes in Tokyo.
