Yes, you are right. Thanks for helping me to find this feature.  :)

Yes, I got a message that someone had quoted my post. That seems like a nice new feature as, especially on the WAYLTN thread (which gets a lot of traffic), it's easy to miss a post directed at you.

In fact I have an alert that I've been quoted when I didn't go fiddling with the settings on this since the update. It was set that way already.

Quote from: Brian on November 23, 2022, 05:58:35 PMIs it possible to implement some sort of "tip jar" system where people who want to help support the forum can leave one-time donations as desired? If needed, there could be an annual or semiannual reminder campaign to urge people to use the tip jar.

In fact, this is the first I've tried reading GMG on my phone (at least, since I 86'ed Tapatalk) and it reads beautifully. Rob, you're an animal (in the best sense.)

Should we see ourselves in the onlines at the bottom of the main page?  I used to see my user name but now only others ...
When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."

I see mine there.

I loooove the new "Quote Selected Text" option so that you don't have to quote a whole post to reply to one little thing in it.
(I also hope that resolves the past issue where I would post a "New Releases" update with 25 image files, and then some people would quote-reply and replicate all 25 images over again. So much scrolling! But now people can highlight one image and quote that only.)

I used that feature just now, much easier than quoting the entire post and trying to delete the extraneous stuff, which is next to impossible if there are lots of images.

That, and the improved experience on my phone are big advantages, and I see no downside. All the features which I typically used (such as linking or including images) seem to have been preserved with minor modification.

Where is that option? I don't see it.

Highlight a part of a post and the "quote selected text" button shows up.

Many thanks, Rob. This is indeed a most useful new feature.

I have just discovered a new feature: you can make an image from the computer appear in the message body, not as a separate attachment under it. All you have to do is click "Insert" after clicking "Upload". Don't forget to delete the uploaded image from the Attachment bar, though, otherwise it will appear twice, both in the message body and under it as a separate attachment.

Am I right in thinking the location field has gone? Is it visible somewhere that I've missed?

Canberra is still listed in my profile but I'm not seeing it on posts like I used to. I can see it on other people's profile pages too but I don't frequently look at those.

Vaguely reminds me I should actually meet Rob... he might even be within walking distance these days...
