I'd definitely need to hear Amandine Beyer in that music.

Quote from: Brian on January 08, 2023, 06:48:03 AMIt's going to be fun to compare Bartos and Kahanek in the Kabelac preludes.

Sounds lovely

Most interesting with suite 5 (the most French) and suite 6 on viola da gamba. Thanks for directing me to those.

Sounds lovely -- not at all grotesque to me.

I own a lot of Magraner's recordings but have never been completely satisfied with them - consider him kind of the poor man's Savall, so I have become reluctant to all his releases.

It's a modernised viola de gamba, some vague details in the booklet. I'm listening to her now and she's clearly a poetic musician.  I just wish she'd recorded more Ste. Colombe père, who I find more congenial than fils (though some people think they were the same composer!)

That cover is a huge turn-off.

Some enticing new releases:

Same here. What I tried, didn't quite appeal. But then I liked his recent Morales recording very much. I'm planning to try some mote of his more recent recordings.

The one I enjoyed was called something like "circles in the water" - themed on the Loire river.

Never heard of Wilhelm Petersen till today. According to Wikipedia he wrote 5 symphonies, among other works.
