The BBC didn't really take good care of much of their back catalog.  There are so many old episodes of Dr. Who that were just flat out lost.

After the rushed concludion of Season 2, I wasn't really expecting Season 3 to come about.

Me neither. Unfortunately season 3 is not very good.

I watched a surprisingly good Marvel show-- Moon Knight.  Oscar Isaacs does a great job as a guy dealing with trauma and a fractured personality.  Ethan Hawke plays a sympathetic villain.  It is surprisingly well written and character driven for a Marvel show.  A real sleeper.

I'll skip it. I liked the social satire of the first season. The second season became more of a dystopic thriller which I didn't find compelling. Seems like it continues to go in that direction.

I've be rewatching the TV series, Snowpiercer (2020-23) and enjoying as much (or more) than the first time through.

Snowpiercer TV series ~ Wikipedia

Snowpiercer TV series ~ IMDB

For the Sci-Fi that it is, I feel it is superior and am puzzled by IMDB's rating of 6.9/1* -- it gets a solid 8* from me.  Acting and direction seem superior to me for what it is;  Daveed Diggs as 'Andre Layton' and Jennifer Connelly as 'Melanie Cavill' turn in especially good performances.  BTW, the TV series is much superior to the movie of the same name, (2013).

The show has one particularly ridiculous premise:  the giant 'Snowpiercer' train must continuously drive at high speed in order to generates to generate light, heat -- and drive it.  In other words, it's a perpetual motion machine.

Finished season 3 last night @George. Won't say more but I will be interested to read what you make of the last episode!

Also finished Scrubs S3 and S4. As good as usual.

Also watching Lessons in chemistry on Apple TV. Rather well done in itself. My partner devoured the book recently, I read a few pages too. It differs quite a bit story wise but also in terms of tone and sarcasm. Still an ok watch on its own merits though. The episode involving the dog is worth the time.

Some great moments, especially between Cory and Bradley (Alex and Paul too.)

Shetland, Series 4

This is a notable cut above the previous three series for me. Partly because the plot's the best so far, partly because of Stephen Walters' excellent contribution as a character recently released from prison after twenty three years, when his conviction is overturned, and whose guilt or innocence triggers all sorts of turmoil amongst Shetland's residents (not least for him), and partly because Douglas Henshall as the lead, is finally wholly convincing in his part, which thus far he hadn't quite been for me, even though he hadn't been bad. Involving, and a surprisingly moving ending.

That was a great season, much better than season 3 which was my least favorite.  My favorite is season 5.  I haven't watched season 7 yet.

Yes indeed, season 3 my least favourite too, I found the plot very bitty. I'll get round to season 5 after a break, but I'm looking forward to it a lot more now that Douglas Henshall seems to have got his act together.

Pohjolas Daughter

I'll have to revisit Shetland; I've watched some of the episodes and enjoyed them.  Perhaps via the library (hopefully)?

How about Chip's rant ?

Crudup floored me in that last scene with Witherspoon in the hallway. He and Margulies (and Chip) should really give acting lessons to the 2 leading ladies  >:D
I hope they'll still be around in S4, whenever that happens.

Yeah, Crudup has impressed me from his very first scene in this show. You can really tell he's enjoying the part. And yeah, that hallway scene was incredibly moving. If he isn't around for the fourth season, I'll be very upset.

Too late it seems. In the latest series DI Perez (Henshall) is replaced by a lady copper.

Yeah but that is season 8.  Iota still has seasons 5-7 to watch.  Henshall is now appearing in movies, including one that came on recently on Netflix.  I read an interview with him where he said at his age he is just happy for the work and still be considered for roles.  He likes that he can now play some villains.

I don't mind that, I'll be interested  to see how it changes things, sometimes a good shake-up works wonders. And as David says, there are still three seasons left to go Henshall.

The reviews I have read of the new DI are positive. I think I may watch a couple of episodes of the new series this evening. I will report back.
