AFAIK these covers like a few others (Jansons' DSCH series had similar ones) are taken from real Soviet propaganda from the war (or sometimes earlier, from the 20s/30s).

But it is you who is reproducing it, and giving it additional exposure. The cover is that of a new release, and that is a simple fact.

You have all the right to include that cover in this thread, AnotherSpin, but after it is pointed out that the reason for doing that is political, you persist on feeding that debate, for which there is no room on this thread. That's calked trolling.

They got Skalkottas wrong, too. Pity they didn't go for a Greek hat trick and misspell Mitropoulos.

Maybe the confusion arose from the fact that in Greek Skalkottas is written Σκαλκώτας (with one ταυ). Of course, this does not explain Athnes. 😀

Thanks. They get a pass on Skalkottas, I won't consider that an error.

By the standards of jazz recordings, a spelling goof or typo on a cover is no big deal.    So maybe that cover isn't particularly bad.

A bit basic, but not offensive. Plus this an earlier BIS release (1993) so... it'll do well enough as a representation of 4 string instruments and a harpsichord, which is literally what's on the album.
