Are the (presumed) leaf fragments on the model's back there by design?

I assumed it was the pox!
When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."

"Hey girls, you won't believe what I have to tell you! You know my boyfriend is a freelance photographer and does photos for magazines and other clients. Well, he just bought a new camera and while testing it out accidentally took a photo of my bare back while I was on the grass of the nearby park. He also had to email the new photo he took for a classical music CD cover to the company that does the cover art. Well, of course my boyfriend accidentally sent the photo of me instead of the real cover art photo of a lute or something! Murphy's law stroke and there was this trainee working in the company unable to figure out the photo is wrong one! You won't believe this, because this is so crazy, but now the photo of my back me on the grass is on the cover of 2000 copies of some lute music CDs!! They had to pay me $1.800 for the rights to use that photo. I wonder how well those CDs sell, hahah! Meanwhile my boyfriend had to apologize for sending them the wrong photo and he was paid only half of the $300 he was supposed to get. Isn't this the craziest story you are ever heard?"

This is the only theory I can think of how that cover "art" could have happened. Even the texts look like "placeholders" for the real text done with proper font.  ???

To all of the above: Yep.

(And thanks for the laugh.)

Not objectionable. I've certainly seen better but I've also seen a hell of a lot worse. Beauty Farm for starters.

The photograph by German photographer Marion Denis was part of her installation Index.

Accompanying text may contain a hint as to why the photo was placed on the cover of an album of works by a castrato composer:

"The work 'Index' deals with the view of gender and body, starting from a scientific perspective.
Attention is focused on the German sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld, who advocated a theory of sexual intermediate stages in the early 20th century. His basic idea of the diverse forms of gender was illustrated through photographs of hermaphrodites, transvestites and other gender and sexual 'deviants'.
Nevertheless, it is these body images that testify to the search for knowledge, but are at the limit of what can be depicted.
A double disunity
Clarity characterizes the photographs of androgynous bodies he uses, although the 'pointing' to the genitals was intended to reveal an unknown truth."

A lament for a castrato singer..... " who most probably had a short and rather sad life. "
I hope he was able to "carpe diem"!

What all this has to do with Viennese Lute Music is beyond me.

Besides, castrati usually had luxurious and hedonistic lifestyles. A few of them were even able to have sexual intercourse.

Read Toyohiko Satoh notes. You may look for a booklet on Qobuz.

On the other hand, it's not that strange if this or other thing is beyond you. It's normal.

Qobuz is not available in Romania. If you be so kind to upload the booklet here, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Anyway, the scarce information I could get about Adam Franz Ginter does not support the thesis of his living "a short and sad life". For starters, he lived 45 years, 1661-1706, which for those times was not that short a lifespan, and in 1694 he owned a house in Vienna, which is an indication that his standard of living was far from being sad.

I certainly did not claim it's strange.

It is possible to subscribe to Qobuz anywhere it is available, and then listen and renew the subscription in any country.

This kind of unprovoked insult of other forum members is sadly a little too "normal" from you.

Oh stop it. Your jerkish behaviour is completely unnecessary. It's not normal at all to respond in these ways.

Thanks.

Well, there is an error in this booklet: it gives Ginter's birth year as 1671, while all other sources available online state it was 1661. And the part about his life having been sad because of castration is pure speculation, inconsistent with what we know about lives of other castrati. This does not mean his life was happy, either. The scarcity of details about his life does not allow any conclusive statement.

Be it as it may, I still find the artwork incongruous with the music.

I don't think I've mentioned anywhere what life was like for castrati. Hard or fun. I have no idea what it was like in this particular case. When I found out where the picture on the cover was from, I thought the connection might be, which is what I comment about. I'm not insisting on anything, just shared the information I found.

What's wrong with me is that we already had Todd and we don't need a second member who plays games with people instead of talking directly.

Telling Florestan that it's normal for him to not understand things was an insulting remark. You've said nothing to clarify or indicate that you didn't mean it as an insult. Instead you go round and round in circles, making oblique remarks that you think are clever. You're not clever. You're behaving like a schoolboy. Grow the fuck up.

EDIT: And the dialogue around accessing Qobuz isn't any better.

You're having a hard time, I can see that. Do not think I can help.
