Title: Michael Levinas Lives Here
Post by: Mandryka on December 10, 2020, 04:55:01 AM
I don't know much about this composer. What I have heard has a very distinctive voice, often disorienting, often appealing. I'd like to explore his music more, hence a thread as a place to dump any thoughts.

Very much enjoying a string quartet on this CD, a string quartet which sounds totally like no other

And last night I dipped into this bizarre and totally morish (I mean when you start you want more) opera based on the eponymous Kafka novella - music every bit as original as, for example, Birtwistle's Punch and Judy (and playful - that's why I thought of the Birtwistle opera.)

Errr . . . I thought the piano was just an instrument for museum pieces . . . and then I heard this.

Nice little piano concerto with quite a distinctive sound here -- good video too. Concerto pour un piano espace No. 2.
