In one of Josef von Eichendorff's novels (Aus dem Leben eines Taugenichts), a character mentions that the true Volksmusik is played by a member of "the Folk," (i.e. not aristocrats) for the love of the music itself.
That would seem to be what we have here!

These symphonies have been a sort of nice discovery lately and they're not too long. The first two feature good vibes and some neoclassical gestures + American rhythms, but the next five are gritty, menacing, dynamic, very engaging indeed. Some are better recorded than others (in the 5th the orchestra sounds a tad distant).

This is three quartets of about 21-25 minutes each.
This is the Oscar Lorenzo Fernandez whose "Batuque" is on like every Brazilian music compilation/highlight album (and was recorded by Bernstein). It's on here in its original suite context along with two very substantial 32-36 minute symphonies. Total time of disc 82:28

Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler - For All Our Days That Tear The Heart (2022)
Jessie Buckley is the actress who played Prince Andre's sister in the BBC War And Peace and the pregnant woman who spent too much time in her firefighter husband's hospital room in Chernobyl - and comes from a singing background.
Bernard Butler is the former guitarist with Suade
I was very impressed by this. At times sounding like David Sylvian's Spirit Of The Beehive, at other times like Heather Nova's Oyster (both albums I love).
