Those images are somewhat misleading - the full size versions here and here reveal that the boxes are 23 and 22 CDs each, with most of the covers just not displayed. Full track lists are at the Eloquence website.

That is some lame marketing. I think of Paray as an utterly superb interpreter of French Music. I would put some of his recordings of Debussy orchestral music at the very top of my list.

But oddly, when I look at the listing of CDs, I seem to thing, I've got that, and that, and that, etc. There must be a lot of mono stuff that is new to CD, as well as core German repertoire (Beethoven, etc) that they left of of the previous Mercury collections.

Seems like a must buy, except, wow, $150 each.

How can I reconcile this with getting the Ashkenazy box, released the same month. I noticed that importcds.com is listing the Ashkenazy box for a very low price, but there shipping surcharge for the 23 lb package (!) mostly nullifies the price advantage over amazon with free prime shipping.

  Right up my alley. I just got a download of this. Gorgeous sound (kudos to the recording engineer), cool repertoire, and fabulous chemistry in the playing.

I hope Hyperion has Takács record the full cycle. Their op. 76 is up there with Auryn Quartet, even Takács less than ideal concert hall like acoustics (IMO not suited for chamber music) can't keep me from playing it.

The first is the only one I've heard with any attention and I thought the mass was very enjoyable.
