I only recently discovered him as a band leader. His recordings are really great.

That one I thought particularly nice with a more subdued tone and great contributions from Kenny Burrell.

Wailin at the Village Vanguard. Art Taylor.  Exciting band with great tenor and alto saxes.

Huh. I went through a phase of trying to hear all the albums recorded at the Village Vanguard, but I don't recognize that one.

Hearing a set at the VV would be one of the few things on my bucket list that actually involves travel (mostly its stuff like "learn to play Go")

I don't know the blue album. Looks very interesting as I love Louis Hayes.
I like the album below. Since there is no piano or horn, the music sounds simple/unpretentious and you feel that you really are at the club. You may want wine or Brandy with this recording.

I don't listen to jazz too often, but a coworker likes to recommend music for me to try.

Thad Jones' album Consummation (1970), particularly 'Us', with the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra.

^ I remember really liking that album, though its been a long while since I've heard it.

Will try and give it a listen later today. Thanks for the reminder.

That Marsalis album and his J mood are vg albums!

Played this twice today, and a number of other Kenny Dorham albums over the last four or five days

^ Nice recording. I think Miles had a good opinion of him.
