You knew it had to happen sometime, right?
Arthur Foote
I have the D-major SQ around here somewhere...
Could be worse. You might have named it:
Off on the wrong foote.
The shoe is on the other Foote.
Shoot yourself in the Foote.
Footeloose.
Foote in Mouth Disease.
Etc.!
But I do like this set of his piano music:
[asin]B00E7NIMB0[/asin]
And this disc of orchestral music:
[asin]B0020LSWAC[/asin]
My Foote in his ass is out of the question, then?

I waas wondering about that piano set. It seems like his Piano Trios and the Piano Quintet are his most recorded pieces...

I just want to make sure 'The Foote Stool' REMAINS UNDER 'The Barber Chair'...

You foote off I was here first!
You had so many choices...
'The Foote in the door'
'Best Foote forward'
'One Foote in the grave'
'The Foote Tour'
'The Foote Massage'
'The Foote Troop'
'The Foote Press'
'The Foote Starter'
'The Foote Lameness'
'The Foote Lickers' Lounge'
'The Foote Room'

I have the NAXOS recordings and I remember liking the Piano Quartet the best.
I also have a few other works, all chamber music, in other compilations with other American composers of the time (Amy Beach, Chadwick, etc.).
Thanks!
Seriously girls, you know the rules. Composer Name+"place"=ThreadTitle
That's why there's so many BadThreadTitles on here, and I sorely wish I had the POWER to change any and all to my delight. Remember how "the malipiero mausoleum" wasn't capitalized? Wasn't that a horror? And what of the wonder of the 'Mozart' Thread?? What kind of ThreadTitle is that for Mozzie?
'The Foote Stool' is the perfect GMG ThreadTitle, in keeping with the house rules and such. BTW- I certainly would petition that Persichetti shouldn't be the recipient of the 'Pizzaria', That belongs more with, say, Pizzetti, no? I mean, really, people, let's chop chop and get going with the programme!! :-X
'The Foote Stool' stays UNDER 'The Barber Chair'- and let's try to keep it that way, shall we? 0:)
(putting on the D-Major SQ now, just to show you how committed I am!!)
You will notice that this passage on the Piano Foote is marked foote footisimo.
bugger it, sorry. :-[
I like the chamber music recordings on Naxos (of which I have a couple) quite a bit. But some of the music on the piano disc set I found pretty vapid to be honest.
